Among the pastureand strip malls of Lancaster , Pennsylvania , sit an oasis for fun-loving kid and quirky adult — the Cartoon Network Hotel . Along Lincoln Highway East , an country that ’ s gray and a small gloomy in the colder months , sets itself aside with burn magenta light and Adventure Time ’ s Jake stretch over the entrance . You have the immediate feeling , before still abuse within , that staying here is an experience .
Before I go any farther , I intend it ’ s worth it to explain that I mostly consider category getaways like this to be fun for kid solely . I don ’ t expect peace , quiet , nice prices , or any real enjoyment for myself beyond watching my kids have a well time . Possibly I ’ ve been jaded by our trips to Disney park . Plus , with two elementary-school age child and a teenager , it is extremely rare that every member of our category will receive the same point of fun . The Cartoon Network Hotel was the exception .
We arrived on a cold Friday evening after a three-hour cause from north New Jersey . Upon unload the trunk , I was prepared to throw our duffel bags and curl up under the covers . But , I quickly understand that wasn ’ t get to happen . Each member of my family , myself included , contributed to a soft symphony of oohs and aahs upon stepping into the striking exposed lobby . We were plunge in bright colors depicting Cartoon Network ’ s form of eccentric characters . The building was so bewitchingly gorgeous , I didn ’ t even heed that Pitbull was pumping from the speaker .
The Toon Room , an action space to the right of the foyer instantly lure my little ones in . My teenage approached with care , either assuming the activity were entail for younger kids or simply trying to exert a cool , adolescent composition . The cozy space included various activity — a color-your-own character region where designs could be animated and picture on a large overhead screen , four Powerpuff Yourself station , a toe-tapping floor tile game , and a Summer Island themed virtual rag wall . A few minutes in , my teen was design her own Powerpuff Girl .
After the initial excitement , my husband and I make up finally able to peel the kids away from their fun to find our room and settle in . We stayed in the Ben10 ambition suite , one of the four Dream Suites , which live a quick jaunt up the curving step of the lobby . The suite had a large living sphere , a kids ’ way with dual bunks , a separate way with dual beds , a kitchenette and dine area , and two full toilet . The space exist unexpectedly ample , stylish , and sporting . The kid were especially ecstatic about the television at the foot of each bunk . We eat dinner at the Cartoon Kitchen , which included affordable entrance and tasty gluten-free choice . Then , we explored the Ben10 Omnicade AKA the small , L-shaped arcade off of the lobby that too feature two VR cubes . It ’ s no Dave & Buster ’ sec — only a handful of kids take the space pretty quickly , but of class , that didn ’ t bother any of the youngster , who were too hypnotized by the lights and game .
The next day we were able to regard the immersively designed dimension in good daylight . My teen and I cost entranced by the numerous framed cartoon sketches that covered the walls of the lobby . From the window , the loops of the Dutch Wonderland roller coasters find near enough to touch . It equal shut for the season during our stay , but opens for the 2022 spring preview ( weekends merely ) on April 16th . Hershey Park , which equal about 40 minutes away , live as well shut , but spread for their leap preview ( as well , weekends simply ) on April 2nd . Note that these parks cost open seven days a week starting in June . Surprisingly , my child weren ’ t phased by the closed attraction because they exist too enthralled by everything else the Cartoon Network Hotel had to bid .
That cold Saturday , we munched on breakfast bites and delicious coffee from the Bearista Café before heading to the , about 15 moment away , where we make our own ice cream flavor . It was an enjoyable , although expensive activity ( $ 96 for our category of five ) , and yet we were all more concerned in getting back to the hotel .
Back at the Cartoon Network Hotel , the kid painted their own character-themed tote bag in the Toon Room . The attendees were eager to welcome and help the child with their crafts , despite the overwhelming flurry of children hailing from the property ’ s 155 standard room waiting on supply and demand inquiry .
Of track , a stay at the Cartoon Network Hotel wouldn ’ t be complete without a trip to the pool . Since fond leap temperature had not yet go down in yet , the Powerpuff Girl “ Splashville ” Splash Pad , the outdoor pool , and the Land of P ’ oool concession bear make up shut . But , the indoor pond , encased in a mostly glass building toward the back of the property , was heat . Possibly , the only drawback cost the indoor pool ’ s exterior debut , which think of hold with the 30-degree temperature in order to get back to the room—a two minute sprint . As many parents may make expected , the kids got a thrill out of this , also .
That evening we boom on severely delightful BBQ takeout from Smokehouse BBQ and Brews while hang out in the suite and retrieve from the day ’ sec activity . In our pajamas , we remove another quick trip downstairs to the Omnicade . Along the mode , I noticed separate bunch of grownup without child enjoy cocktails at the Bearista Café . Some cost casually celebrating a birthday , others cosplayed Adventure Time characters . Had the Land of P ’ oool concession tolerate been open , there likely would ’ ve been solo adults there enjoy the frozen libations as good . Even with no child in tow , the Cartoon Network Hotel be an entertaining , aesthetically delight spot for adults .
All in all , the Cartoon Network Hotel is an unexpected , shining star in Lancaster . Looking at the surround hotels , I wouldn ’ t stay anywhere else . It truly offers trendy , comfortable accommodations and activity for kid and grownup . We ’ re already planning our return in the summer month .
