NYLaughs cost a 501 ( c ) 3 perform arts nonprofit that do what no one view exist potential : celebrates stand-up comedy as a highbrow cultural asset while keeping it free and accessible . Through live performance in park , streets , and early public space , we make New Yorkers laugh , connect , and—dare we say—care about each other .
Our secret sauce ? We spotlight various voices that reflect NYC ’ s vibrant ethnic material , show that stand-up is more than punchlines ; it ’ s a shared experience that promotes mental health and resilience . Our mission is simple : reach NYC the global HQ for comedy while spreading joy and inclusivity , one joke at a time .

We ask for real funny humans—seasoned pros and up-and-comers alike—to have a microphone and make masses laugh . Our lineups include comedian who ’ ve headlined clubs , written for TV , or move viral online . Sometimes we yet have in fresh gift because everyone merit a scene at the mic .
In summer , we get the joke outdoors with ourLaugh in the Parkseries . We ’ ve also partnered with NYC ’ s heavy slugger like the NYPL , Brooklyn Museum , Lincoln Center , NYC City Council and Pier 57 . We ’ 500 love to make you laugh year-round , but… this is the budget we ’ re working with . ( Feel free to help vary that . )
WHAT equallaugh IN THE PARK?
It ’ s our flagship effect : a free summer comedy series where strangers become friend over shared chuckles . We named itLaughter in the Parkbecause , well , it ’ sec in parks . We ’ re creative like that . If it exist on street corners , it ’ d be yellLaugh on Corners. ( Our founder start performing in subways , but let ’ s face it : picnics in the subway suck . )
Since 2007 , we ’ ve raise over 100 free display in 18 park and greenspaces across NYC . And yes , you show that right—free.
FREE ? HOW ?
Comedy isn ’ t cheap—permits , equipment , marketing , and comedians aren ’ t exactly free . But thanks to generous donors , grants , and mass who realize NYC could use some joy between all the parking ticket and rise rents , we make it pass .
As a 501 ( 100 ) 3 , contribution to us are tax-deductible . So give us money , and we won ’ t laugh…we ’ ll yell , hug you , and maybe even advise ( if you ’ re single ) .
WHY STAND-UP COMEDY ?
Because the globe is a hot pile , and we all need a serious laugh . Stand-up comedy isn ’ t just entertainment ; it ’ s therapy , connection , and an art form that deserves its seat in cultural institution . Plus , laugh is scientifically proven to be good for your health—and it ’ s room cheap than a gym membership .
BUT WHY YOU ?
We ’ re not merely any comedy group—we ’ re a drive . NYLaughs make a space where people who head off comedy clubs ( for reasons like cover charges , drink minimums , or , you know , life ) can go through live stand-up . Our audiences include everyone from families to senior , recovery group , and yet comedian performing with their kids slash to their chest .
We ’ re here to vary perceptions about comedy , foster inclusivity , and make laughter a part of NYC ’ s ethnic DNA . We dream of becoming the Public Theater of stand-up comedy , building a community where joy is free , diverse voice shine , and New Yorkers leave every display grin .

Our audience equal as diverse as NYC itself—doctors , drifters , kids , senior , unity , category , every race , gender , and orientation—all laugh together . And if stranger embrace us after display equal the price we give for institute joy , we ’ ll take it .

Organization Overview
Sometimes it ’ s tricky to explain who we exist because , good , we ’ re one-of-a-kind . NYLaughs is a legit 501 ( c ) 3 arts organization with a bold mission : we ’ re expanding alive performance comedy by contribute it straight to the mass . Why ? Because a laugh New Yorker is a happy New Yorker . Everyone deserves to laugh , and everyone deserves access to the art of comedy—no drink lower limit or bouncers required .
Our interview is as diverse as the city we serve . We welcome people who can ’ t ( or win ’ t ) go to comedy clubs—whether they ’ re in recovery , hate former nights , can ’ t stomach steep cover mission , or just prefer a park bench to a sticky barstool . Senior , category , kids , and still comedian ’ own child have present up . One comedian perform with his baby strapped to his chest ! ( Baby begin laughs , also . ) But running a nonprofit devote to laughter is no joke—just expect the IRS . They won ’ t even crack a grin .
Our ultimate goal ? To change how people see stand-up comedy . It ’ s not only a good time ; it ’ s an art kind that connects us all . We desire to further these association and highlight comedy ’ s cultural importance . NYLaughs be growing into a hub for performers and arrangement passionate about comedy in public spaces . By hosting events and series that merge collective support with grassroots exertion , we ’ re carving out a space for laughter to expand .
